Adding An Airtag Into A G2 BatteryUpdated a year ago
Notes Before Getting Started:
- Read these instructions entirely to understand the steps needed to perform the task.
- You will need a T15 screwdriver to remove the battery handle. This can be purchased from your local hardware store.
- You will need a No. 00 Phillips screwdriver, which can be purchased from your local hardware store, to open the AirTag cover.

Removing the Battery Handle
- Locate the two bolts on each side of the battery handle and remove them using the T15 screwdriver.
- Set the bolts aside for when you’re ready to re-install the handle.
- Slide the handle up and away from the battery.
Removing the Cover and installing the AirTag
- Using the No. 00 Phillips screwdriver, remove the two bolts on the AirTag slot cover.
- Press the screwdriver down firmly and begin to unscrew the screws. Be sure always to keep firm pressure when unscrewing to prevent stripping.
- Once the screws are removed, remove the AirTag cover.
Re-Installing the AirTag Cover
- Place the AirTag in the compartment and put the cover plate back on the battery.
- Put the two screws back in and use the No. 00 screwdriver to re-install them. Be sure always to keep firm pressure when screwing the screws back in.
Re-Installing the Battery Handle
- Slide the battery handle back on the battery and line up the grooves first.
- Then, place the two bolts back on each side of the handle and fully tighten them with the T15 screwdriver.
